Tara spent her formative years down the road from the current location of Iyengar Yoga Source as a student at Classical High School. Years later, she began Iyengar yoga while working as a journalist in London in 2000. Since then, Iyengar yoga has been a constant source for Tara to turn to for inspiration, stress-relief, recovery from childbirth and fatigue. As a teacher, she aims to share this range of effects of yoga asana and pranayama with her students.
After moving with her job to Beijing, she was fortunate to be able to continue her initial training in 2008 with Faeq Biria and studied with him until his passing in 2022. Tara attended conferences with BKS Iyengar and Geeta on their respective trips to China in 2011 and London in 2002, and with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute in 2015, 2016, and 2018. She continues to study with Corine Biria and Jordi Marti, as well as her first teacher, Lorraine McConnon.
Her teaching draws on her years as both a student and instructor, including 12+ years teaching a range of students from beginner to intermediate — including sports people, pregnant women, seniors, teenagers, and teachers of both the Iyengar method and other yoga styles. She also has a masters’ in East Asian Studies and is fairly fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
