Tristan loves yoga, and yoga on the wall ropes in particular, because there is no other way to feel the traction, balance, and depth of experience in asana quite like it. Tristan teaches with humor and kindness, usually focusing on an action to follow through a series of poses. Tuning into small actions and details is a great way to bring the lens of mindfulness and awareness into focus, and to quiet the ever-present inner voice. After a practice, she wants you to feel like the renovated version of yourself - longer, lighter, easier, and calmer.

Meet Your Wall Ropes Instructor:

Tristan Binns

Tristan Boyer Binns has been practicing yoga since age 14 and has remained a constant throughout her life, from travels and office work to motherhood. A former children’s book author and publisher, Tristan eventually turned to teaching yoga, discovering it to be both fulfilling and challenging.

She completed her Iyengar training in London with Julie Hodges and is a Certified Iyengar Instructor. Known for her humor, detailed instruction, and love of ropes and restorative classes, Tristan helps students tap into their physical and emotional strength.


Workshop Schedule

Intro to Ropes

Time: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM: $35
Full Workshop: $60

In this session, we'll use the wall ropes in a simple sequence to create space and freedom. Gain confidence moving ropes around and creating different setups. You should feel ready to enjoy the day after this class, or be well warmed up for the more intense class following a long break for lunch.

Intermediate Ropes

Time: 2:30 - 4:30 PM: $40
Full Workshop: $60

Explore how familiar asanas can be altered and deepened using the wall ropes. We will look at different families of poses, taking representative poses from each family. Learn to extrapolate from our starting poses into other poses that feature similar alignment. Expect to have fun with some of the joyful and quietening rope sequences. Bring your questions and challenges, and we will try to address them!

  • No prior experience is necessary for the Intro to Ropes session. We will cover the basics to get you comfortable. However, for the Intermediate Ropes session, some yoga experience is recommended.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.

  • If you have specific concerns or injuries, please email iyengaryogasource@gmail.com if you are unsure. We will check in with Tristan and Kathleen to be sure you will be ok in this workshop! 

  • Just bring yourself and a willingness to explore!

  • Yes, there will be a long break for lunch between the morning and afternoon sessions when the studio will be closed.
